Here's something worthwhile to report.
The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with Free Agent defenseman Wade Redden. Redden is an above-average puck-moving defenseman who can quarterback the struggling Rangers powerplay. Redden is also plays solid defenseman, showed by his +/- of +159. The deal is reportedly worth $39 million over six years. The Rangers also re-signed Michal Roszival - a move that this blog has seen as a must.
The addition of Redden is a needed one for New York. He immediately steps in as the top defenseman on the team; his presence makes the blueline much more formidable. Bringing Roszival back is a great move. He's shown that he can play solid defense and offense. Combining him with Redden provides New York with an excellent top defensive unit.
In other news, forward Brian Rolston has signed with the New Jersey Devils, helping their mediocre offense and boosting their powerplay.
